George Withers & Sons was established in London in 1878 and continued after 1900 by his two sons, Guarnerius and Walter George. They trained in Mirecourt, France, and under their management the firm produced many fine bows as well as instruments. Withers & Sons ceased trading in 1933.

This fine bow has many similarities to the work of W E Hill & Sons of this period and comprises a round pernambuco stick with silver mounted ebony frog which is decorated with pearl eyes; the adjuster of silver.

It is well balanced on the strings, provides good articulation, a lovely legato sound and an easily controlled bounce on the strings for consistent spiccato and sautille.
